We Won!! – Grand Designs Live

I am currently in total disbelief that it’s already been over a week since Grand Designs Live 2017 came to an end! ‘I had GDLive blinkers on for months before the show opened – I’ve pretty much had to have a re-introduction into daily routine/life again!’ (Drama queen I may well be!).

All five (including meee!) designers had 2.5 days to bring our moodboards to life; this was one of the most fun/stressful parts of the whole process for me. We had to make sure that all the bespoke fitted book shelving and sofa elements (made offsite before seeing the physical shed) came together perfectly, giving the impression the shed was produced exactly for the purpose of a ‘Reading Snug’.

Once everything was built inside it was time to get painting and styling… SUCH FUN! I am literally in my element at this stage; it’s when you really start to see the transformation. Oh and when you can stand back and think ‘phew… I can actually sleep happy tonight!’
Then that was it, all done! Months of late night GDLive prep work all over… in a weird sort of way it felt really sad. I always feel a little sad when we’ve completed a project that was so much fun, I regularly feel like I want to strip it all back and start all over again. (Pretty sure this would not go down well with clients!)

The opening day was a huge whirlwind! From talking to lots of lovely visitors, having a number of interviews about the design, meeting the fabulous Kevin McCloud to last but certainly not least WINNING the ‘Grand Shed Designer Of The Year 2017’ award! – (Still sinking in!)

The most amazing experience that I wish I could re-live over and over!
